what is HBCU 101?

HBCU 101 is a television series that highlights Historically Black Colleges and Universities. These highlights are obtained via one on one interviews with prominent leaders and HBCU alumni, in addition to interactions with the student body, various student organizations and campus leaders, all to shine a positive light on these institutions. HBCU 101’s mission is to enlighten the masses on HBCUs by highlighting their activities, organizations, persons, and services to uplift and connect communities.

Jahliel Thurman

Chicago native and Virginia State University graduate, Jahliel Thurman, took his love for HBCUs and a desire to broadcast positivity on those institutions to host HBCU 101. Utilizing his mass communication skills, Thurman highlights HBCUs by engaging with prominent alumni. By highlighting campus activities and organizations HBCU 101 raises awareness on HBCUs and appeals to prospective students. Thurman’s positive energy translates into a lively show that captivates audiences beyond the campus and community.
